oneindia Addhuri review

Addhuri, the launchpad of Dhruv Sarja (Brother of Chiru Sarja and nephew of Arjun Sarja) has been in the making for a few years now. The film unit took its own time to complete the project to ensure that the film is nothing less than the best. It started getting noticed after the music of the film composed by V Harikrishna got released with quite a few songs becoming chartbusters and generating a huge hype around film. Now, let us see whether their efforts have come to fruition. Read on for the review...

The director starts off the proceedings by taking us to a railway station to introduce a couple, Arjun and Poornima, who were on a verge on breaking up, and the leading lady wants to leave once and for all to Delhi. But the hero's trick makes her to postpone her journey by a week and Arjun, in order to win her back, requests Poornima to join him in visiting those places, which have been special to them.

On hearing his words, Poornima decides to be with him, but only after he agrees for all her terms and conditions. In the next seven days, Arjun does his best to rekindle the love. During the process, Tarun (Tarun Chandra), who is the groom chosen by Poornima's father, arrives in the film. What happens next should be seen on-screen. However, the director does not reveal why their relationship got into trouble till the climax.

AP Arjun has made a youthful story with all necessary commercial ingredients in mind. It is modern-day tale told in a simple yet interesting manner. But he takes quite a long time to arrive at the main plot. However, the first half is engaging and there lies a good amount of entertaining elements. However, at parts, the movie looks draggy and it could have been a lot more interesting affair if it was made crispy.

Performance wise, Dhruv Sarja has come out with flying colours. He impresses the audience with his abilities to dance and fight with ease. He is energetic all through the film and that remain one of his highlights. But the drawback is that his expressions, which at some scenes, are not up to the mark and he has to work a lot on this aspect. His co-star Radhika Pandit is good and has played her part well. Tarun Chandra, in extended guest role, leaves an impression on the minds of audience. Rest other characters are okay.

Technically, the film justifies its title: Addhuri, as the movie is rich in visuals and music. Soorya S Kiran's cinematography is excellent. V Harikrishna has given a couple of good tracks with 'Thu anth...' track standing out as the triumph card. Ravi Verma's stunts and Imran Sardhariya-Harsha's choreographies are praiseworthy. Finally, director Arjun, who has penned the story, screenplay, dialogues and lyrics, get full marks for dialogues, which is one of the highlights of the movie.

Verdict: Addhuri gets 3 out of 5.

adh
uri review in Supergoodmovies

It is a love story of Poorna and Arjun. They are affectionately known as ‘Achhu and Rachchu’. Poorna and Arjun (Radhika Pandit and Dhruva Sarja) are in love for one year. Before Poorna father takes a decision she decide to marry Arjun at the registrar office. Arjun agrees but he does not turn up for the prescribed time. The whole day Poorna waits for him on the steps of registrar office. Arjun turns up at the hostel of Poorna in the midnight. Poorna decide to go back to her house in New Delhi.

The next day morning Poorna is at the railway station for ticket and the ticket is only for the next week. That is what Arjun cooks up at the railway ticket counter. She is supposed to stay for one week. For this one week Arjun throws a challenge for Poorna to stay with him. Arjun wish to go to the places where they have gone in the last one year for that Poorna hesitantly agree. On the fourth day Poorna gives a shock that she is getting married to Tarun a software engineer.

On the fifth and sixth day Arjun and Poorna maintains the go happy friendship. Lovers later become friends in life is for the first time says Arjun in one of the scenes. On the 7th day Poorna comes to know why Arjun did not turn up for the marriage registration. She is shocked and feels she has injured Arjun so much in words. Whether Arjun would accept me once again is the question that arises in her mind.

ANALYSIS –

Director AP Arjun after ‘Ambari’ has given a passable film with lot of liveliness in his screenplay. There is no good story for the film. Only one incident shoulders the 13 reels film. The narration pattern is quite engaging from Arjun. He has improved considerably in this film compared to ‘Ambari’. He had shown the lovers going to Agra in a cycle in ‘Ambari’. Such flaws he has not made here in ‘Addhuri’. The character of Tarun Chandra that comes in the post interval does not take the exit.

Arjun is a winner in making every scene look grand. Like the title ‘Addhuri’ he has made most of the scenes look very pleasant to the eyes. The quarrel the director brings in between Dhruva Sarja and Radhika Pandit is also sweet. At one point of time when Tarun Chandra arrives on the scene the love expressed by Duruv Sarja to Radhika Pandit indirectly is quite impressive.

He has covered up the laxities in newcomer so well and made it sit through. The anger, love, naughtiness, dejection, responsibility, power required for the film has come out well from the actors.

It is just a narration based cinema with only hairline of incident that detaches the lovers. In the attached detachment the lovers move around on conditions. The height of love the risk that Arjun takes for his love is commendable.

‘Addhuri’ means grandeur. Director Arjun from the money of producer CMR Shanker Reddy and Keerthi Swamy has made it look glorious in the locations, costumes and lighting used for the film is on par with any other language film.

The speedy dialogues he has kept for the protagonist reminds ‘Golden star Ganesh’ of Mungaru Male. It is the peppy dialogues that are spoken on the street sides earn applaud for protagonist of the film. Dialogues are also another trump card of this film.

Another high point of this film ‘Addhuri’ is that director AP Arjun has not brought in parents for both the protagonists on screen. He has not defined the background of protagonist. Yet there is no place for much of emotions. The comedy also runs through the screenplay to some extent.

PERFORMANCES –

Full marks to Radhika Pandit actress in her 8th film. She looks very gorgeous in modern outfits. Radhika Pandit acting prowess would earn a few awards for her in the forthcoming days. Even when she is in sorrow mood she looks so sweet.

The new find Dhruva Sarja has come here to stay. The only minus point for him is his nose. He has nose for acting is the plus point. He looks macho. He is too good in action and dance. The dialogue delivery that has come to his first film ‘Addhuri’ is a god sent gift for him. Dhruva Sarja picks the right roles he would easily take over his elder brother Chiranjeevi Sarja. Dhruv Sarja close relative of Tamil action star Arjun lives up the expectations of his maternal uncle from this film.

Tarun Chandra in touch and go role looks handsome. His role has not been ended. Tabla Nani and Raju Thalikote are OK.

TECHNICALITIES –

Soorya Kiran in his first work behind the camera in Kannada is superb. She has taken the right locations. Even in the pedestrian area he makes it look grand and that is because the title ‘Addhuri’. In the outdoor shoots he has used his liberty in quick action moments of dance and action he earns good name.

V Harikrishna is giving bumper crop to producers since two years continues his strength in songs in ‘Addhuri’. Aa andre Ammate….is a raunchy number. The sorrow filled song before climax is melodious. Yarilla Yarilla Ninanthe Yarilla….Thun Antha Ugidaru….are for the masses! Yarilla Yarilla…song reminds the song of ‘Maria My Darling’ Kannada cinema.

On the editing front there is no flaw. The only flaw of this film is that there is no good story. It is a time pass cinema easily.

Last but not the Least – Even if you quarrel love is eternal.

GOOD IN NARRATION LIVELY PERFORMANCES! – Score 3.5/5

Cast – Dhruva Sarja, Radhika Pandit, Tabla Naani, Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar, Raju Thalikote, Tarun Chandra and others.
Cinematography – Sooryakiran
Music – V Harikrishna
Producer – CMR Shanker Reddy and Keerthi Swamy
Story, Screenplay, Dialogues, Direction – AP Arjun

Addhuri movie review by filmglitz.com

Addhuri movie produced by C M R Shanker Reddy and Keerthi Swamy reached the screens on 15th June2012.Story, screenplay, dialogues and, direction are handled by A P Arjun.Music is scored by V Harikrishna.Cinematography is by Sooryakiran. Main cast of this film includes, the first timer,Dhruva Sarja, Radhika Pandit, Tabla Naani, Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar, Raju Thalikote, Tarun Chandra and others.Go ahead and read to see how Addhuri movie review goes.

Scores of films in Kannada in 2012 falling like pack of cards with no substance and entertaining elements in it, the film ‘Addhuri’ comes this week with pretty good screenplay and wafer thin story line. Director AP Arjun coming out of three years of hibernation in his second film ‘Addhuri’ has attempted everything to look grand. In the process of giving engaging screenplay he forgot to write a convincing story.Arjun first film ‘Ambari’ was 100 days run film starring Yogish and Supritha. In this film he has trump card of good actors Radhika Pandit and debutant Dhruv Sarja. The mass elements like dialogues and action to fit the front benchers earn good applaud in the rural areas. For all those who have fallen in love the director offers some relief.

The protagonist of the film Arjun (Dhruva Sarja) in love with beautiful Poorna (Radhika Padit) deceive her on the day of marriage at registrar office. So far so good for Arjun the hot mind of Poorna is difficult to digest now. At the same time he is not able to reveal why he has ditched her at the registrar office.

Arjun seeks one week time to set right the anger in Poorna. Poorna is confident that she cannot be convinced. What happens in one week stay of Arjun and Poorna is challenging task for the director. In this one week Arjun request Poorna to visit the places they visited in the last one year. It is in fact this portion of love and hate relationship most entertaining part of the film. Three songs and three action scenes plus natural style of dialogues keeps the film going till the railway station scene at the climax comes.

Muscular hero Dhruva Sarja is not that good looking but he has given a decent performance in his debut. He needs some alteration to his nose. No complaints as for his acting, dialogue delivery, dance and action. In stunts and dance he has turned exceptionally good. Radhika Pandit is once again spectacular in her acting. She is an improving actress from film to film. In anger and crying scenes she is lovable. There are three chilling action scenes and three lovely tunes from V Harikrishna. Ammate Ammate….song and Yarilla Yarilla….are with melody and rendered well by the singers.

Debutant to Kannada Soorya Kiran cinematography is another plus point of the film. In giving wide angle shots and outdoor locations Soorya Kiran mesmerizes the eyes.

Verdict:-This is just a passable film !

Addhuri review in rediff.com

Srikanth Srinivasa says Adhoori is a refreshing change for Kannada viewers.

Adhoori, starring debutant Dhruva Sarja and Radhika Pandit is directed by A P Arjun of Ambaari fame. The love story runs on just two characters; others who make an appearance are relegated to playing guest roles.

The film starts with lovers Poorna (Radhika Pandit) and Arjun (Dhruva Sarja) deciding to call it quits. It is Poorna who is hell-bent on going her way. Arjun wants to stick to the relationship and convinces her to give him another seven days so that they can revisit their love story.

After much haggling and pleading, Poorna agrees. Thus begins the seven-day love 'sojourn' with Arjun trying his best to rekindle the love that they shared.

The story goes back and forth showing how they fell in love. The reason for their impending split is not known until the second half. They even go to the extent of getting married but on the day of the marriage, Arjun fails to turn up, which peeves Poorna no end.

Poorna introduces Tarun (Tarun), a software engineer, as her suitor to Arjun and that is when he gives a third person account of his love story with Poorna to Tarun. He earns the sympathy of Tarun.

On the sixth day Arjun walks away, dejected that he is unable to bring his lover around. Poorna realises that she has insulted him enough. See the movie to find out what happens on the seventh day.

Dhruva Sarja exudes innocence in this role. Though blessed with very unconventional looks for a hero, he wins the hearts of viewers with his fights, dances and the lost look he wear throughout the film.

Once again Radhika Pandit turns in a good performance and proves that she can carry an entire film on her shoulders.

Surya Kiran's camera work is good. Music composer Harikrishna has a winner on his hands with the song Aamaate… though the other songs are not that hot.

Adhoori (which means richness) lives up to its name. It keeps the viewer engaged, which is a refreshing change from the many bad Kannada films hitting the screens in the past few weeks.

Rediff Rating: 3/5

Addhuri review in chitraloka.com

A.P.Arjun clearly proves one thing through his second directorial venture “Adhdhuri’. That is his first success is certainly not a flash in the pan. Quality wise Adhdhuri is several notches higher than his first film Ambari where he had extracted very good performances from lead actor Yogish and had becautifully shot the song sequences. And his screen play was also well written.

In Adhdhrui this young director has taken pains to work out a perfect script ( he has taken quite a time to write it) as could be seen by the strength of the sequences. He has blended the comedy, emotional and action sequences perfectly which takes the film to greater heights. He is clearly aided by both Dhruv Sarja and Radhika Pandit who have reached top notch levels in their performances. Dhruv does not show at any time that he is a beginner in the industry, while Radhika Pandit mesmerises the viewers with her smile, dialogue delivery, perfectly moulded emotions and even in her looks. Her transformation as an all round actress can be seen in this film She combines glamour and performance very well. What a way to reach top levels, lady.

The drawbacks of the film are a few elements like the slow progress in the first half and the whole story revolving around only two characters. But in the second half this flaw will be forgotten with the introcution of some characters and a faster pace of narration. Adhdhuri revolves around only two characters, Arjun and Poorna, who has been named as Rachchu by her lover. Director Arjun does not give any leverage to other artists, though Bullet Prakash makes an impact in a small role as a Bus Conductor. Otherwise the film fully belongs to Dhruv and RP on screen and Hari Krishna, cinemetographer Surya Kiran and Deepu off screen. To top it all Arjun excels as a writer in the film writing fabulous song lyrics and dialogues that perfectly suit the mood and nature of the sequences.
Hari Krishna’s song compositions, BGM and singing has elevated the quality of the film just like Arjun’s writing and narrating of the story on screen.

You will certainly fall in love with this Achchu and Rachchu Love Story. Thanks Arjun, Hari Krishna, Dhruv and Radhika
